North Carolina Pore water extraction 2023

Ellingson-DTD completed a continuous dewatering well in a CCR basin. The well was completed at the base of the impoundment and was mostly drilled in fly ash. Total well length is 1,653’ (1,613’ screen), consisting of an 8” diameter HDPE.

The drilling was completed using biodegradable drilling fluids, and well development consisted of washing, jetting, and pumping with a submersible pump. Note from the client on 1/27/2025:As of January 2025, we had pumped 17.8M total gal. Typical average flow rates have been 65-80 gpm when the system is in operation. An average drop of 17 ft (+/- 2 ft) from September 2023. We measure that from piezometers within our ash basin.”
