Wyoming Groundwater containment 2021

Wyoming Groundwater containment 2021

Ellingson-DTD has two continuous groundwater containment wells under FGD ponds at the site.

Well ID Materials Entry Riser Screen Exit Riser Total

FGD-1 4” stainless steel 123’ 1,340’ 702’ 2,165’

EGD-2 4” stainless steel 100’ 1,040’ 890’ 1,090’

The wells were completed in native formations consisting of sandstone and weathered sandstone materials. Surface casings were set and cemented in place on the entry side. The wells were drilled “uphill” under evaporation and flue gas desulfurization (FGD) ponds and gravity flowed after construction and development.

Drilling was completed using biodegradable drilling fluids, and well development consisted of washing, jetting, and pumping with a submersible pump.
